At this point, the object on the cover picture is still clearly visible. But the scientists at TU Braunschweig are making progress. In QuantumFrontiers, they are pursuing the vision of isolating individual molecules from the glowing orange crystals and processing them in a targeted manner. Attached to semiconductor surfaces, these molecules are given an inconceivably tiny yet crucial task: to emit individual particles of light, photons.

The image of the orange crystal of zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) is currently TU Braunschweig's Picture of the Month.
