The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the national metrology institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical tasks and promotes progress and reliability in metrology for society, industry and science.

The QUEST Institute for Experimental Quantum Metrology is a joint institution of Leibniz Universität Hannover and PTB in Braunschweig. Our research includes spectroscopic investigations of cold ions using quantum logic, the development of optical atomic clocks and fundamental physics tests.
