- Abstract
This chapter discusses the cohnfunctions. In 1961 P.M. COHN showed how to characterize the multiplicative group G of a field by an element e ε G and an involutorical function ε of G':= G. In the field ε means -1, and xε = l -x. The chapter focuses on the finite case.
