Stockholm University and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences have awarded Prof. Dr Reinhard Werner the Oskar Klein Medal. The prize is awarded annually since 1988 for achievements in the field of theoretical physics. It is associated with the annual Oskar Klein Lecture, which commemorates the Swedish physicist Oskar Klein, after whom the prize is named. A year ago, Professor Werner received the Max Planck Medal from the German Physical Society.
From 2009 until his retirement in September 2023, Werner was a professor at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at Leibniz University Hannover, a member of QuantumFrontiers and project manager in the DQ-mat Collaborative Research Centre.
‘I like problems that are conceptually interesting and allow for an answer in the form of a non-trivial theorem. As a mathematical physicist, I also try to answer questions at the appropriate level of generality,’ Werner describes his research activity.
