- Abstract
A field-effect transistor (FET) biosensor for lactose is presented. The bioFET device employs a bi-enzyme system consisting of β-galactosidase and glucose dehydrogenase co-immobilized on the surface of the FET gate. The sensor response was measured in a differential mode, wherein the source voltage in the bioFET is compared with that in a pH-sensitive FET sensor placed next to it. The sensor produced a rapid and reproducible response to lactose. The response was affected by several factors such as stirring, NAD+ concentration, pH and buffer capacity. The optimum conditions for the performance of the bioFET were investigated.
