DFG ERHÖHT „FORSCHUNGSSTIPENDIEN“ FÜR FRISCH PROMOVIERTE

More money for carrying out a first independent research project abroad

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is increasing its "research fellowships" for initial research projects abroad in order to improve the chances of newly-doctored scientists and scholars in international competition. With the increase, which is retroactive to 1 January 2015, fellows now receive a basic monthly amount of 1,750 euros and a monthly lump-sum material cost subsidy of 250 euros.

FEODOR LYNEN-FORSCHUNGSSTIPENDIUM

With the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes worldwide research stays for scientists from Germany at all career levels and in all disciplines. Applicants choose a host from around 20,000 scientists from the Humboldt Network abroad.

The announcement is aimed at doctoral candidates who wish to leave Germany for some time after completing their doctorate in order to advance their career or to implement a specific project abroad. In addition, professors can use the call for proposals for a sabbatical for a research project abroad.

The fellowship for experienced scientists (up to twelve years after the doctorate) offers funding for 6 to 18 months, divisible into up to three stays within three years.

For postdoctoral students (up to four years after their doctorate), the funding period is 6 to 24 months.
